A rising star in the Philippines is finally making her debut on the silver screen.
Kate Valdez, with her ethereal beauty, is made for the movies. She is the embodiment of the dreamy lass with "Perfect Skin" that Lloyd Cole and the Commotion sang about: "When she smiles my way/My eyes go out in vain." After receiving critical acclaim for her role in TV's Onanay, Valdez has finally making the transition to the cinema. And the timing is excellent as well as her legion of fans continue to campaign for her to be chosen by Marvel Studios to play the Filipina superhero Wave in the MCU, otherwise known as the #KateForWave campaign.
Scheduled for release on October 9 in the Philippines, Black Lipstick is a remake of the 1986 Philippine classic Blusang Itim (English: Black Blouse). Valdez co-stars with Snooky Serna (who was the lead in the original); Kyline Alcantara; Migo Adecer; and James Teng.
Directed by Julius Alfonso, Black Lipstick has been buzzed about on social media for months. Finally, Valdez will be seen in theaters. It will be the beginning of a thrilling future for her career.
